Entre sus libros de ensayo destacan A la zaga del animal imposible. Lecturas de la poesíaecuatoriana del siglo XX (2005) y Trasiegos (2018). Junto a Raúl Pacheco preparó la Antología de Poesíade la colección Literatura de Ecuador (2009).
